Arts Engagement
The other side of me
I have spent my career working in communities alongside incredible people, where I am happiest. My experience spans a range of settings, including charities, schools, healthcare and private residences.
Projects include a commission as Artist in Residence at Q&E Hospital, Gateshead, working with schools to create artworks for their Children’s Outpatients Department, as well as "In Our Own Words", a year-long participatory research project in South Tyneside that documented residents’ life experiences and resulted in a publication influencing policy.
I also facilitate art workshops for people of all ages, and, of course, making a mess is an essential part of the process!
My current practice integrates research, advocacy, campaigning, engagement and Live Illustration.

LIVE ILLUSTRATION
You may not yet have encountered Live Illustration. This is a new, exciting and evolving area of my practice and one I am actively developing as a long-term way of working.
I draw in person, responding to stories in real time. To my knowledge, I am currently the only illustrator specialising in watercolour and ink! Live illustration brings something special to an event and I feel very privileged to be part of the process.
Creative outcomes grow directly from the live experience. After illustrating at a recent conference, I was invited to create a series of postcards for participants, extending the event's life and transforming their stories into keepsakes.
I am continuing to refine and expand this creative medium, exploring how live illustration could function within community spaces.
